I have to say that I became a fan of HR pretty much over night. I am a rather... big fellow. It's not uncommon for chairs to snap under me. So finding stuff that can tolerate my weight has become a bit of an issue over the years.

My father found HR on the web and decided to order me the sofa. He thought I would have to have some help in putting it together. My initial worry was assembling the stuff myself. I'm pretty good with tools. But this isn't a plastic model kit or a giant church build out of Lego. (yeah you heard that right). Looking over the directions I figured.. perhaps some minor trouble on the fabrics.

I have to say, that putting this sofa together, was one of the most amusing and fun times I've had in a while. Probably took me longer than most. (I had a bit of time on my side). So instead of the 2-3 hours.. mine took about 5. Not bad for someone flying solo with no real help. I think that's the amazing part. I had no real help in putting this thing together. Then again, I'm use to working with stuff smaller than a pebble. Putting such things into spaces smaller than my thumb.

As for the finished sofa? Several of my neighbors were just out right stunned as to how good it looked.

Few things that I liked.

The fact that each part was numbered. The numbers were large and cut into the parts rather than painted. That made finding the stuff easy.

The fact they included the sanding pad. Most of the stuff I had to sand was stuff for the fabrics.

The gloves. That was one of the first things I saw. I was thankful for those. Saved my hands from lots of splinters.

I think about the only thing I would do differently.. is use a power screwdriver instead of a ratchet screwdriver. A few sections were hard mostly because of the angle I was at. Though if that's the only issue I have.. then I count myself blessed.

Now I just need to see if my dad will get one for his house. So I can make sure I'm around to put it together.

I found the ratchet driver to work well. My only issue was the fact that where I was sitting vs where I needed to be to get the screws in.

Then again... I've worked on Lego Churches with strange angles for putting in tiny parts. More so when I make that rare mistake.

A power screwdriver was the key for us. It saved a ton of time. We had to tighten some of the screws by hand when the driver started to lose power. It didn't have enough torque to get the screws all the way in. Hope you are enjoying your new sofa.
